Data protection in Malta seems to have been only an EU requirement or is seen as income for the authorities as the only function it has is to collect a fee. We are gently reminded of our obligation to submit a yearly fee. But we know nothing of our rights. May the Omnipotent please enlighten us poor mortals of this Mickey Mouse land?

I receive text messages over my mobile phone from entities I never dream of patronising. Shoes, travel, sports goods, including from many companies I never had anything to do with or never consented to receive anything from.

Is there an SMS number where we can forward these offensive text messages to be dealt with?

Now it has also become a habit to receive unsolicited e-mails which urge you to call them if you do not want their mails.

So now you have to inconvenience yourself by spending time chasing them to remove you from their mailing list.

I would appreciate some guidance.
