A present that really counts

From as little as €3 a month, you can help a child develop his or her educational and social skills through a new campaign by leading NGO Inspire.

This Christmas, the charity Inspire is reaching out to as many people as possible through the mass distribution of 160,000 leaflets around Malta and Gozo. In an eco-friendly paper saving venture, part of the flyer can be converted into a pyramid desk calendar for 2012.

Featuring a young girl called Tamika, the Christmas-themed flyers contain information about the various schemes to which people can sign up in order to make a difference in the lives of children like Tamika.

By filling in the form, people can make a one-time donation as well as sign up to a monthly subscription which is a secure, hassle-free direct debit donation system. All those who sign up to become members of the monthly subscription by the end of January will receive a Friends of Inspire loyalty card and will automatically be entered in a competition to win great prizes. These include a Fujitsu laptop from Merlin Computers, a Toshiba 19-inch flat screen TV or a one-week stay at the Pergola Club Hotel and Spa in Mellieha. The lucky people chosen at random will have to answer a question over the phone.

The money you donate will go towards Inspire’s specialist educational and therapy services including their unique multi-sensory rooms and therapeutic horseback riding. Inspire’s goal is to see complete inclusion of people with disabilities living in the community, in schools, the workplace and during recreation.

Over 1,000 adults and children across Malta and Gozo benefit from Inspire’s services which are offered across their five centres for free or at a minimal charge. It is through people’s generous donations that these people can benefit from Inspire’s help.

Those who sign up for the Friends of Inspire can opt for one of four schemes: €3 a month will help a child enrolled in a specialist programme that develops their educational and social skills; €5 a month supports children and adults with therapy and training; €10 monthly sponsors specialist programmes such as horse-riding and multisensory sessions, €25 a month helps towards the buying and maintaining of specialist equipment that enables independence.

Inspire encourages you to stop and think of others this Christmas and join the Friends of Inspire campaign in order to donate, even a few euro. Distribution has been made possible thanks to 3D Group.
