The fourth and final race from this year’s Birkirkara St Joseph 5K Road Running Series will be held today at Mtarfa, starting at 9 a.m.

Leading the overall classification in the male and female categories are Pembroke’s Aaron Mifsud and Carmen Hili, of St Patrick’s.

However, both runners will have to be at their very best in the final race as their lead is only marginal.

Following their best two performances in the summer races, Mifsud is only 11 seconds ahead of Simon Spiteri, of St Patrick’s, while Hili’s advantage over team-mate Angele Sammut is a mere five seconds.

A record number of runners took part in this year’s BSJ four-race series... the first three were held in June, July and August.
