Mdina restaurant named Malta’s best... yet again
Awarded for third time
Located in the old capital Mdina, de Mondion Restaurant has been named the country’s top eating place, winning the award for the third time since 2008.
The restaurant scored the highest points for food, service and ambience in the annual survey conducted by the Definitive(ly) Good Guide to Restaurants, supported by the Malta Tourism Authority, HSBC and Marsovin. More than 1,700 regular diners took part in the survey, the largest response to-date.
“We are delighted that 12 years on we are still considered to be the number one restaurant guide in Malta for objectivity and comprehensiveness,” managing director Lisa Grech said during the award-giving night. The awards were presented by Tourism parliamentary Secretary Mario de Marco.

'Best Business Entertainment – Tarragon.
Most Romantic Restaurant – Tarragon.'
This one left me puzzled, how can a restaurant take Best Business Entertainment AND Most Romantic..... Is Business some sort of romance or is Romance some sort of business???

Olympic Restaurant, near the Rotunda in Mosta, may not be very fancy but the food is excellent and the prices are very good also. I'm a pasta lover and their spaghetti bolognese is second to none. Similar smaller restaurants may not be included in the list of "best" restaurants but they can be besterer then best :))

Another award that would make sense would be one for consistency. From experience I can say that one can visit a restaurant on Monday and get a wonderful meal, then go back to the same restaurant on Friday and get something a dog wouldn't eat!

Good comment. Just because the chef changes duty. How serious is that!

I got exactly that experience not so long ago when I had dinner at one of the top notch restaurants in that list. The smell of cooking oil was noticable from half a block away from the front door of the restaurant . The small maltese loaves served during the meal were far from fresh, service indifferent , portions miniscule .Worse still was the stomach upset experienced within hours of eating at that place.

It would have been more appropriate if you had given us addresses as well. I will be in Malta next week and I like to go to some of them.

Very good point Amy, and your comment is not only relevant to persons with limited mobility. It is relevant to those families with babies and young children in pushchairs, not to mention wheelchair bound persons who's independence is compromised by having to rely on the help of third parties to get around.
