If the resurfacing carried out in Bishop Caruana Street and part of Triq Dun Luret Callus is an example of how Vjal il-Ħelsien - in the Żebbuġ village - will be resurfaced, then we risk seeing more lakes being created whenever it rains all along the main entrance to the Żebbuġ centre.

...we risk seeing more lakes being created whenever it rains...- Michael Bonnici, Żebbuġ

I still recall the words of the former director of works, the late architect H. Crockford, that Vjal il-Ħelsien, formerly named Gate Avenue, was meticulously levelled by eyesight using the primitive wooden tools kunjardi.

In spite of the length of the road, rainwater used to easily flow from Sciortino Street to Mdina Road, where it follows its natural course to Marsa. I hope that the road surfacing and levelling are supervised daily in a professional manner while work is in progress.
