Updated: Tottenham's unbeaten run comes to an end

Sunderland 2 Blackburn 1

Sebastian Larsson ensured Martin O'Neill's reign as Sunderland boss started with a victory as the Black Cats came from behind to see off Blackburn.

The Sweden international curled home an injury-time free-kick to snatch the points after David Vaughan had levelled with an 84th-minute piledriver.

Simon Vukcevic had headed the visitors in to a 17th-minute lead after Keiren Westwood could only parry Chris Samba's shot, and Scott Dann saw a 41st-minute strike ruled out for a foul by Samba on the keeper.

Stoke 2 Tottenham 1

Emmanuel Adebayor was controversially denied an equaliser as Stoke brought 10-man Tottenham's long unbeaten run in the Barclays Premier League to an end.

The Spurs striker replied to Matthew Etherington's first-half double from the penalty spot at the Britannia Stadium but had a second contentiously ruled out by an offside flag.

The visitors could also have had another penalty when Ryan Shawcross cleared off the line with his arm in a frantic second half but Stoke held on after the dismissal of Younes Kaboul.
