Former prisoner Marco Pace, known as il-pinzell, was arrested this afternoon after attempting to attack a woman and a police officer following a crash near the Kappara roundabout.

Sources said Mr Pace was driving an old grey Mercedes when he crashed into a blue car driven by the woman at around 2.30 p.m. The woman was slightly injured in the crash.

The sources said Mr Pace could be seen talking on his mobile phone in a state of drunkenness shortly after the accident. Around 10 policemen and an ambulance were also seen on site.

Mr Pace has a number of pending court cases and is awaiting trial for murder.
