New services have been laid beneath the lower end of St Paul Street, which has also been freshly tarmacked in the past weeks, Parliamentary Secretary Chris Said said during a visit.
The works were completed in the past weeks as part of Public Private Partnership for residential roads and following an agreement between the parliamentary secretariat, the Chamber of Small and Medium Enterprises, GRTU and the council.
Through this agreement, the works in St Paul Street were divided in phases so as to meet the expectations and exigencies of residents and businesses.
Dr Said said that another four streets Triq San Nikola, Triq l-Isptar il-Qadim, Trejqet l-Isptar il-Qadim u Triq it-Tramuntana are also to be done under the PPP.
He said councils had completed 256 streets under different agreements in the past 18 months.
The government, he said, was to continue investing in various projects in Valletta to safeguard the historical heritage.
Dr Said was accompanied by Valletta mayor Alexei Dingli.
