Public transport provider Arriva will be using 64 buses of the old transport system but their engines will have to be converted to Euro V standard by May 2012.

The information was given by Transport Minister Austin Gatt in reply to a parliamentary question Labour MP Joseph M. Sammut.

The modifications will be carried out by HJS Emission Technology GmbH, a German company selected by Arriva and approved by Transport Malta.

The company is recognised by the UK’s Vehicle Certification Agency.
