Following the reopening of Medserv’s Misurata base, the company has carried out its first operation since the unrest in Libya in February.

Although the operation itself was small, it was a milestone for Medserv’s Misurata employees who all turned out to support the first post-revolution operation. It is also a significant milestone in marking the start of business towards full operation.

The operation brought comfort to the employees who were now able to return to work after months of great instability.

“You could feel the excitement of all at the base as the operation commenced. We were happy to see our people back at work,” commented Godfrey Attard, General Manager at Medserv Misrata. “Their spirit and commitment is both inspiring and commendable. We are proud to work with them.”

Medserv has reported that the Misurata Free Zone is now operational and a new chairman has been formally appointed. The port is now also operating normally.

“It has also just been brought to our attention that the group of rebel forces that took the initiative to protect the port until civil authorities were ready to resume operation, will be handing over their post within a week, a further sign that things are returning to normal,” Mr Attard added.

While there is not much business activity as yet, Medserv continues to provide storage services and round the clock surveillance for clients. Business is however picking up fast and senior management from Medserv plc have visited Misurata four times since the fall of Tripoli.
