Maltese basketball referee Bernard Vassallo has received another FIBA nomination this season after previous assignments in Nantes, Venice and Zagreb during November.

Tomorrow, Vassallo will be one of the referees for the FIBA EuroLeague Group A match in France between Bourges and Russian powerhouse Ekaterinburg.

This is the ninth day of the FIBA Euroleague group stage and Ekaterinburg are currently sharing top spot in the eight-team group with Valencia after both obtained six wins from eight games. In the first leg, Ekaterinburg emerged 68-50 winners over Bourges.

Vassallo will spearhead the officiating crew for tomorrow’s game with the other referees being Italy’s Saverio Lanzerini and Adalstein Hjartason of Switzerland.

Gordon Barbara, Malta’s other international referee, will travel to Turkey to officiate the FIBA EuroCup game in Adana between Botas and Dynamo (Russia) on Thursday.

The other members of the officiating team are Poland’s Tomas Kudlicki (crew chief) and Ervin Koci (Albania).
