The Malta Developers Association is working with similar organisations in a bid to set up a property forum and exploring the possibility of a market study on vacant property.

President Michael Falzon told the association’s first annual general meeting last Friday that the MDA adopted a positive and proactive attitude in spite of prevailing problems.

After initial hesitation, the government and other NGOs were now regularly consulting the association, he said. Mr Falzon said the MDA’s strategy for 2012 was to continue trying to persuade the government to manage the construction industry in a holistic manner and to bring the property forum to fruition.

The MDA also intended to work towards ensuring the Malta Environment and Planning Authority policies were updated and to obtain fiscal incentives in certain sectors of the property market.
