KMS Sport Academy launched

The Kunsill Malti għall-iSport recently launched the novel KMS Sport Academy specifically targeted for the development and education of young and aspiring athletes.

The main intent of the KMS Sport Academy is to serve as a centre of sporting excellence and provide student athletes the opportunity to fully develop their individual athletic abilities while preparing them for the demands of their sport discipline when enrolling with a sporting club.

Presently the KMS Sport Academy caters for three distinct sport disciplines, namely athletics, horse racing and swimming, although studies are also being carried out on the feasibility of introducing other sport disciplines in the future.

Providing quality sport facilities and resources, the athletics programme within the KMS Sport Academy is being held in three different venues (the Kirkop Sports Complex, St Ignatius Secondary School, Tal-Ħandaq and the Maria Regina College in Mosta).

Horse racing is carried out at the Marsa racetrack whereas the swimming sessions are held at the National Pool within the KMS Tal-Qroqq Sports Complex.
