A group of Vodafone employees recently donated blood as part of the company’s Christmas activities.

A spokesman for the newly-appointed committee that organises activities for Vodafone employees said giving blood was a gift no money can buy.

Meanwhile, the National Blood Transfusion Centre appealed to people to drive prudently to avoid traffic accidents. It pointed out that there are patients who need to be operated, and others, including children, suffering from chronic diseases, such as cancer, who need the limited amount of blood available.

It added that hospitals typically need around 50 bags of blood a day and there are instances where a single patient would need 40 bags of blood.
