Christopher Sciberras was recently appointed consultant paediatrician with an interest in community paediatric services and community disability in the Health Ministry.
Dr Sciberras graduated Doctor of Medicine and Surgery in 1989. He started his postgraduate specialisation in Paediatrics and was awarded a distinction in a certificate course in developmental paediatrics from the Institute of Child Health, London, in May 1992.
Later that year Dr Sciberras was awarded a diploma in child health from the University College, Dublin, following a clinical attachment at Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin.
His interests in community paediatrics directed him to follow a Master’s degree course in community child health at the University of Warwick, where he graduated with distinction in 1997.
His thesis was entitled ‘An Epidemiological Study of Cerebral Palsy in Maltese Children born through 1981 to 1990’.
Dr Sciberras was also elected as a member of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in 2001.
Dr Sciberras was appointed honorary clinical assistant lecturer at the University and is an examiner for undergraduate students in the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery.
