The government is currently upgrading Zammit Clapp Hospital which is expected to provide 100 beds for people who require long-term care similar to that provided in a home for the elderly.

I assume that these 100 beds will be allocated to three units or wards.

At the Gozo General Hospital there are two units – one, unnamed, for male residents with a capacity of 40 beds, and another for females, Residenza Sant’Anna, with a capacity of 80 beds. The women’s unit needs to be divided at least into two, since it is difficult to administer an 80-bed elderly unit.
