Winners of the The Definitive(ly) Good Guide to Restaurants 2011 Survey, sponsored by the Malta Tourism Authority and supported by HSBC and Marsovin, were recently presented with their prizes.
Timothy Bartolo won first prize, consisting of two nights for two on a bed and breakfast basis in a deluxe room at the Hilton Malta, St Julian’s.
The second prize, a weekend break for two on a bed and breakfast basis at the Radisson SAS Blu Resort, St Julian’s, went to Keith Cortis, while Ruth Aquilina won third prize, a €200 gourmet hamper from Dical House Fine Foods.
Prizes of the coffee table book entitled The Definitive(ly) Best Restaurants in Malta and Gozo (photography by Kurt Arrigo) were given to the next 10 best reviewers: Chris Micallef,Marianne Grima, Shane Hunter, Trevor De Giorgio, Bryan Muscat, Christine Borg, Marthese Camilleri, Gabi Mizzi, Christie Grech and Michael King.
The top rated restaurants for food, service, ambience and overall performance will be presented with their awards during an award gala dinner ceremony at the Radisson Blu Golden Sands Resort and Spa Hotel, Għajn Tuffieħa, tomorrow.
The 12th edition of the restaurant guide, incorporating results of the 2011 Restaurant Survey, will be published this month and will include the top survey-rated 150 restaurants out of over 1,000 restaurants.
The survey saw the participation of 1,700 people dining out twice weekly on average to an equivalent of 176,800 dining experiences in a year.
