Magda Magri Naudi, president of the Malta Association of Beauty Therapists (MABT) recently gave a presentation in Turin at the invitation of the Piedmont branch of the CNA Benessere e Sanità during a seminar entitled Crea Bellezza 2011.

The seminar’s objective was to focus on beauty therapy from the scientific and managerial aspects, and was sponsored by the Turin Chamber of Commerce and the Piedmont Region.

After briefly outlining the history of the Malta association, which was set up in 1993, and the Confederation of Beauty Therapists in Europe (CEPEC), Magri Naudi stressed that like all other activities, beauty therapy keeps evolving and to keep abreast with the changes one has to be well trained.

This meant one has to undergo continuous professional development and life-long learning for one’s business to succeed.

She referred to the recent introduction of professional indemnity insurance for members of the MABT and the possibility of joining the Federation of Holistic Therapists of UK, which was an important qualification offering great advantages to all beauty therapists.

Magri Naudi said Malta, within CEPEC and together with the national standards authorities of many EU countries, has embarked on a standardisation project for beauty entrepreneurs and their salon activities.

This will assure clients of higher standards all over Europe.

She invited the Italian beauticians to the CEPEC European reunion to be held in Bologna between March 9 and 11, at the same time as Cosmoprof, the international trade fair for beauty products and treatments.

Magda Naudi then screened a documentary, Visit Malta, provided by the Malta Tourism Authority, urging the delegates to see the sights depicted in the film for themselves by visiting Malta.

Guest speakers included Gianni Mariutti, a health and safety consultant, Giorgio Calabrese, a dietician who is familiar to Italian TV viewers, Brigida Stomaci, national president of CNA Estetica and Savino Moscia, president of the national CNA Benessere e sanità.
