Musical Tidings by New Choral Singers
December 13 and 20, Floriana and Mdina
The New Choral Singers will be giving two performances of their annual Christmas concert, entitled ‘Musical Tidings’.
The first will be held at St Publius parish church in Floriana on December 13, and the second will be held at the Carmelite Priory in Mdina on December 20. Both start at 7.30 p.m.
The concert will feature traditional carols from around the globe, including popular evergreens, and also Et Natus Est Emanuel by Praetorius, and an upbeat version of While Shepherds Watched by Paul Trept from the Spoforths’ Collection.
Accompanying the singers will be pianist Shirley Helleur, organist Gino Mulé Stagno and tenor Edward Camilleri.
The Floriana concert will mark the inauguration of a new electronic organ of the renowned Dutch brand Johannus.
The installation project was overseen by Robert Buhagiar, an expert in the restoration of pipe organs and an organist in his own right. He will also perform solo organ works.
Entrance to the concerts is free, but a retiring collection will be held in aid of Caritas Malta.
