Over 60 students packed the KSU common room during the recently-held Careers Convention on the University campus to take part in an interactive talk delivered by Josef Said, a director of Konnekt Search and Selection.
The session focused on giving students job-hunting tips and advice.
Konnekt conducts around 2,500 interviews a year and receives over 3,500 CVs a year. It also has extensive experience in coaching students and job-seekers to focus their efforts on what matters most.
Apart from sharing tips on CV preparation and interviewing, the interactive session focused on emphasising the need for students to know what they want out of their future, so that they can direct their efforts accordingly.
Summer jobs was also an important topic of discussion. Getting summer jobs is critical to future success as this enables students to get a feel of the world of work and quickly gain insight into what they are best at and what jobs they would not be suitable for.
During the talk, students were given a task which stimulated a key skill needed in the job hunting process – that of not giving up but rather to keep persevering.
One student who showed he does not quit easily and who kept persisting till the end was Lukas Plaehn, who went home with a €150 cheque presented to him by Konnekt for being the first person to solve the puzzle.
