MCST research platform

The Malta Council for Science and Technology has received €710,000 from the European Regional Development Fund to set up a Manufacturing Research Platform.

The project seeks to highlight the importance of research and innovation in manufacturing and to speed up the transformation of the local manufacturing industry to higher value added activity. Through the platform, the MCST is seeking to support the restructuring process of local industry, including crafts, and move towards a more competitive knowledge economy.

The MRP’s main objective is to establish an effective communication channel with manufacturing enterprises. The platform allows for an ongoing and sustained campaign that promotes the possibilities offered by research and technological development.

The MRP will provide a forum for companies seeking to carry out research so that they are able to connect with people who possess the required expertise.

The forum is open to all stakeholders in the manufacturing sector, from government to academia and industry. The MRP will run until next August.
