An electronic edition of Ray Bradbury’s classic science fiction novel Fahrenheit 451 is being released, after the 91-year-old author lifted his objections to a digital version.
“The publication in digital form comes as part of a new publishing agreement which includes all English language print and digital formats of Fahrenheit 451 in North America,” publishers Simon & Schuster said in a statement.
First published in 1953, Fahrenheit 451 has sold over 10 million copies and been translated into 33 language. The novel envisages a world where books are banned and burned.
Other notable e-book holdouts include Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling, who plans to make her best-selling books available in digital form through her dedicated Pottermore website.
