Apple has announced a pro-duct recall for its first-ever iPod Nano, which it released in 2005. The recall is related to the device’s battery, which, in very rare cases, may overheat and pose a safety risk.

Affected devices have a black or white plastic front and silver metal back, unlike later gener-ations of iPod Nano, which have a metal front and back.

The Malta Competition and Consumer Affairs Authority said that to avail of the product replacement offer, consumers should contact the retail outlet from where they had purchased their iPod Nano.

Any consumers worried about the safety of their device should contact the MCCAA technical regulations division on 2395 2000.
