Maltese writer awarded EU Prize for Literature
Maltese writer Immanuel Mifsud is one of the 12 European authors awarded the 2011 EU Prize for Literature.
During the event, held in Brussels, Immanuel Mifsud read a short excerpt in Maltese of his winning book Fl-Isem tal-Missier (u tal-Iben) and was afterwards presented with the award trophy by Polish Minister for Culture and National Heritage Bogdan Zdrojewski and Parliamentary Secretary for Culture Mario De Marco.

I was lucky to be one of his many students at Junior College back in the late 90s. Even as a mid teen, I could see his passion for Maltese language in general, literature specifically. It's also thanks to him that today I appreciate the beauty that is the Maltese language.
