Rescuers from the AFM this evening rescued a woman in her 30s whose car fell into the sea at Paradise Bay.

It was not clear how the car, a Peugeot 106, ended up in the sea from the old quay. The woman, from Zabbar, managed to get out through a window and was seen swimming in the bay.

She was picked up by a patrol boat and after a medical examination on shore was rushed to Mater Dei Hospital.

A divers' unit from the Civil Protection Department was also on the scene.

The woman had been reported missing by her family and was spotted by a police patrol shortly before the incident.
