Archbishop Paul Cremona has appointed Fr Albert Buhagiar as the new archpriest of Mosta.

Fr Buhagiar, who will replace Fr Mario Tong, was born in Tarxien in 1964 and was educated at Paola Primary School, the Carmelite College in Sta Venera and De La Salle College in Cottonera.

He was ordained in 1993 and his first pastoral work was as vice parish priest of Gżira. Two years later he was appointed vice parish priest at Żejtun p and in 1996 personal secretary to Archbishop Ġużeppi Mercieca.

There are, in Mosta about 19,000 parishioners in 6,300 families.
