A fundraising Christmas market is being held at San Anton School, L-Imselliet, limits of Mġarr, today between 10.30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

It is a festive fun day out for the family with a difference.

There will be stalls selling everything one needs for a perfect Christmas, from traditional decorations, gift-wrapping, home accessories, giftware, jewellery, wooden toys, Advent calendars, plants, chocolates, children’s gifts, toys, gourmet foods, spices, festive treats, home-made jams, chutneys and many more original gifts and stocking fillers for friends and family.

There will be also a Santa’s Grotto where children will be able to meet Santa Claus, while other children will play roles in a live crib.

A wooden stable was built for this crib in the school picnic area under a large carob tree. With the support of local farmers, this stable will also house live sheep, lambs and a donkey to transform the area into a typical Nativity scene.

Children visiting the market will be spoilt for choice as they can listen to stories, write their letter to Santa, watch a film at Rudolph’s mini-cinema and participate in Christmas art and crafts and baking workshops.

The cast of the traditional Christmas panto Alibaba will also visit themarket in the afternoon. Visitors will get the opportunity to meet the actors and purchase tickets for the panto.
