University students who are at least in their third year of studies in architecture, biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, information technology and mathematics are being offered the opportunity to take part in a one-year industrial traineeship with a company in Japan. The placement starts in September and ends in August 2013.

The traineeship is sponsored under the Vulcanus in Japan programme, which offers a grant of two million yen (€19,000) to cover the cost of travel to and from Japan and living expenses in the country.

Accommodation is provided free of charge during an intensive course in the Japanese language and introductory seminar held immediately prior to the industrial placement and for the duration of the traineeship in Japan.

This programme is co-financed by the EU-Japan Centre for Industrial Cooperation and the Japanese host company. Applications are to be received at the centre in Brussels by January 20.

Students applying for the programme are to keep a copy of their application and send another copy to Marlene Debono at the University’s International and EU Office.
