On Saturday afternoons St Benedict College’s Safi primary school has become a hive of activity as young students, aged eight to 10, take part in a Kreattiv project aimed at helping them to develop their music, singing and drama talents.

The project was launched during the summer holidays with tutors from the Sine Macula Choir introducing the pupils to theory of music, voice training and singing.

The pupils subsequently joined the choir to take part in the triduum of the feast of St Paul celebrated in Safi on the last Sunday of August.

The project’s second phase is currently underway. Every Saturday afternoon pupils go to the school to take part in lessons in drama, voice technique and singing.

A Christmas concert will be held at Safi parish church on December 18 when the pupils will again team up with the Sine Macula choir for an evening of music, carols and drama.

The project will end in April.
