Artist Liliana Fleri Soler is exhibiting her latest sculptures at So Galerie, Iklin.
Born in Malta in 1964, Fleri Soler was formally trained in the sciences at the University of Malta, and dedicated most of her younger years to teaching, painting and drawing in her free time.
In 1996 she gave up her teaching career to dedicate herself to study and practise art. She is primarily self-taught, reading extensively about art history, contemporary art forms as well as art techniques, always seeking to learn more and apply it to her work.
Fleri Soler’s work consists of paintings, sculpture and assemblage. She draws imagery from the human form and from experience.
The interpretation of fluid thoughts and abstract feelings into concrete forms, as well as narration and reinterpretation of classical myths, form an integral part of Fleri Soler’s work. Recurrent subject material is the environment, life and death – always in relation to the feminine.
The body of work exhibited consists of sculptures, mainly bronze. The cast of characters stand on stage, playing a part in the world of the female.
The exhibition ‘Sculptures’ shows at So Galerie, Triq Dun Karm, Iklin, until January 20.
