Company flies high

Reflects expansion of the country’s aviation sector

Malta Wings and Malta Flying in Luqa has continued to invest in its growth, announcing a new aeroplane and hangar.

Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi visited the company noting it had recognised Malta’s potential to be a centre of training in the region for foreign students.

The company’s growth reflected the expansion of the country’s aviation sector, with more than 1,000 employees in aircraft maintenance, he said.

Malta Wings and Malta Flying owner Patrick Fenech saw the opportunity that arose from EU membership in this field back in 2004.

Seven years later, the fruit of that vision was evident and the company now had five aircraft, 14 workers and was offering new services.

Dr Gonzi said that, to sustain the sector, the government was investing €17 million in the Aviation Park.
