Christmas lights in Merchants Street, Valletta, were switched on this evening by Tourism Parliamentary Secretary Mario de Marco.

The lights in Republic Street were switched on last Monday.

Dr de Marco said that Merchants Street is unique as it incorporated invaluable palaces and is shrouded in  history. 

He congratulated the Merchants Street Business Community for its dedication in promoting the street and Valletta in general.  He called for all  associations to unite to create a single business community, working in collaboration with the Valletta council and the government.
