Between September 1 and Octo­ber 20 this year wardens dished out 19,067 tickets with a total value of €453,817.41. But only 4,608 tickets were paid in the period, amounting to €107,974.66.

The information was given by Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi in reply to a parliamentary question by Labour MP Stefan Buontempo. Answering another question by Dr Buontempo, Dr Gonzi said that between January 1, 2008 and September 30, 2011 the Petitions Board had received 39,576 petitions against wardens’ tickets, 13,770 police tickets, 5,754 CCTV contraventions and 4,501 speed camera contraventions.
