Newcomers do well at Bidnija

The Larry Vella indoor airgun range in Bidnija hosted the third Air Rifle and Air Pistol competitions of the season last weekend.

Romeo Zuber claimed the honours in the air rifle shoot.

Alison Vella and Lorraine Vella were making their first appearance and both left a good impression after finishing second and third respectively.

In women’s air-pistol, Eleonor Bezzina hit the best score of the day, 371/400, to secure first place.

She finished ahead of Josette Calleja who finished on 332.

Ray Cacciatolo chalked up his second win of the season in air pistol after posting an unrvalled score of 540/600. He was ahead of Stephen Vassallo, 533, and Martin Grech, 482.

Mario Mallia Milanes, another newcomer, also achieved a very encouraging score of 382.

Meanwhile, the club will soon be sending a team to the UK to take part in a Postal Shooting competition, held in conjunction with the Smallbore Rifle Association.
