Simplified quick web browsing

Pendergardens recently installed a Quick Response (QR) code on St Andrews Road, St Julians. QR Codes (Quick Response Codes) are uniquely generated 2D matrix bar codes similar to what is found on everyday items. The difference is, however, that this code is capable of storing up to 4,296 alphanumeric and 7,089 numeric characters.

They were first introduced in Japan in 1994 to track motor vehicle parts.  Since then they have slowly made their way onto adverts, Facebook and Twitter. Locally these are expected to be utilised more frequently. Once an application is downloaded onto a smart phone, the QR code is scanned, taking you directly to stored data, normally connecting to mobile-friendly web pages, rather than expecting users to manually enter a long URL.

This ease of use should significantly increase the amount of mobile traffic www.pendergardens.com has already come to enjoy with the launch of their new site earlier this year.

“The need for readily available information on the development and location was identified as decisive. Instead of following the normal communication channels, this time we opted to try something new, first in the form of our web address painted on hoarding, our very our street art and now erecting a functional QR Code Installation.”
