The Triumph Bonneville T100 Steve McQueen Special Edition Motorcycle is currently on display at the Motorcycle Live show in Birmingham.
The motorcycle was created by Triumph in tribute to the classic Steve McQueen movie, The Great Escape.
The 2011 Show is offering a selection of not just bikes but accessories, components; a wealth of interactivity, essential rider wear and exhibits to spark the imagination, whilst educating and enlightening visitors of all ages as to what motorcycling has to offer, said a spokesman for the show’s organisation.
Motorcycle Live is the premier motorcycle exhibition in the UK and is widely recognised as a key event in the motorcycling calendar.
During the film, Steve McQueen, in the role of Captain Virgil Hilts USAAF, stole a motorcycle – a Triumph Bonneville – and on being pursued by German soldiers, jumps a barbed wire fence.
At this point he becomes entangled in another fence and is captured. He escapes execution as a spy by showing them the captain’s bars on the inside of his shirt.
