Four Maltese powerlifters have just participated in the World Championships at the Scotstoun Stadium in Glasgow. Former champion Mario Mifsud set a world record deadlift of 326kg on his way to placing second in the 125kg category. Charles Degiorgio took bronze in the 75kg category, with a 180kg squat, bench press 117.5kg and 230kg deadlift. Kris Mintoff (picture) also took bronze in the 90kg class after a 235kg squat, 150kg bench press and a 255kg deadlift. Frans Spiteri did well in his first international appearance in the Masters category when he lifted 180kgs before adding 142.5kg in the squat and 70kg in bench press.
