Restoration and maintenance works being carried out by the Vittoriosa council at the Auberge the France were this morning visited by Lands Parliamentary Secretary Jason Azzopardi.

The auberge was passed on to the council recently so that it would be able to start operating from a more central area.

The works include the restoration of Nobile Hall and of a sculptured baroque allegory figuring a lion, the replacement of wooden beams, the installation of membrane and of all the necessary services.

The place has also been equipped with photovoltaic panels, put up with the help of a scheme issued by the Local Government Department.

Most of the work is being carried out by nine workers passed on to the council for employment by the Employment and Training Corporation.
