I refer to Josephine Caruana’s letter Procedure For The Redirection Of Mail (November 9).
Ms Caruana complains on behalf of her mother that our service for the redirection of mail has not been adequate.
Primarily, Ms Caruana mentions that the initial application form submitted represented both her parents.
This in actual fact was not the case. Given that the matter concerns data pertaining to third parties, Maltapost is not at liberty to disclose these in public. Nevertheless our client has been contacted and the impression of how the matter proceeded has been corrected.
On a general note I would point out that once Maltapost learns that an applicant (for the redirection of mail) has passed away, then the service is terminated immediately.
It is then for the rightful heirs to claim the deceased’s mail from Maltapost, which mail shall be duly handed over upon the presentation of the appropriate documentation.
If mail remains unclaimed, it is returned to sender as “undelivered”.
