I would like to correct an error in my letter ‘Permits for valley-clearing endangering local rare flora should be withdrawn’ (The Sunday Times, October 30).

The reference to Wied Ta’ Żejta in Gozo should be to Wied Sara.

The accompanying photograph shows the devastation wrought on Wied il-Qlejgħa (just beyond Chadwick Lakes).

All that is left of the indigenous flora that this valley bed watercourse once harboured is one specimen of Scirpoides holoschoenus, visible on the left-hand side beneath the white rock.

I hope that my plea has not fallen on deaf ears, and that the Malta Environment and Planning Authority and other authorities concerned are taking action.
