First Rug Company store in Malta

The Rug Company, creators of fine, contemporary handmade rugs, opened its first showroom in Malta last month.

Founded in London in 1997 by Christopher and Suzanne Sharp, The Rug Company has become internationally recognised for combining contemporary design with traditional craftsmanship and outstanding quality.

As well as designing its own in-house collections, The Rug Company collaborates with some of the most distinguished international designers, including Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith, the late Alexander McQueen, Tom Dixon and Diane von Furstenberg, bringing their extraordinary talent into the home.

“Maltese customers can expect the excellent service for which The Rug Company is renowned,” said CEO Christopher Sharp.

Every client will benefit from a full consultation with its in-store experts, and also from the company’s complimentary home consultation service. In addition, The Rug Company’s couture service will enable clients to commission their own entirely bespoke rug.

The Rug Company now has 17 showrooms worldwide, including five in America, and has earned international acclaim and awards for excellence. Malta will be its 18th showroom.

Mr Sharp said: “Malta has always been incredibly important to us, and we have strong connections and affection for the country. With Suzanne being Maltese and having lived in Malta as a family from 1991-1997, we thought it would be fantastic to build on our Maltese heritage and open a shop here.”

The store, located at the Blue Harbour Business Centre in Ta’ Xbiex, is open Monday to Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4 to 7 p.m.
