Gozitans last Tuesday marked the first anniversary of the death of Bishop Emeritus Nikol Cauchi with a concelebrated Mass, led by Gozo Bishop Mario Grech, at the Cathedral in Victoria.

Sannat archpriest Fr Tarcisio Camilleri spoke about the life of Mgr Cauchi as a priest, pointing out his good qualities and saying the bishop’s life could serve as an example to other priests.

After Mass, Mgr Grech together with the other priests prayed on the grave of Mgr Cauchi and blessed his remains in the presence of the bishop’s sister and brother and other relatives.

Flowers were also placed on his grave by various societies.

The bronze bust of Mgr Cauchi, which will form part of thegrave headstone, was placednear the main altar for public viewing.
