Two long-standing women’s organisations recently came together in a generous display of support as the Association of International Wo-men in Malta donated €500 to the YWCA. The donation was presented by AIW’s new president, Irene Burlinson, to YWCA president Mary Jones at the YWCA premises in Gżira.
YWCA (Malta) is a non-profit voluntary movement. Its aim is to provide solutions, and sustain and develop holistic service to underprivileged women and families. The movement is made up of a group of women from all walks of life who strive to improve the lives of these women and young girls going through difficult times. “Our main project is the self-development programme, which focuses on basic adult education on vocational life skills training,” explained Ms Burlinson. All YWCA courses are free. The objective of the SDP is to empower women with skills that relate to their talents. “Our mission is to make a difference in women’s lives,” said Ms Jones.
AIW Malta brings together women of all nationalities to foster friendships and aid local voluntary organisations.
