A partner support agreement recently signed between the Malta Chamber of Commerce, Enterprise and Industry and HSBC Bank Malta was signed by Malta Chamber president Tancred Tabone and Michel Cordina, head of commercial banking at HSBC Malta.

The agreement specifically supports the Malta Chamber’s mission to help members expand their business abroad. “Being a global bank, HSBC is an ideal partner for internationalisation, with presence in over 87 countries,” said Mr Tabone.

“With the bank’s help over the past years we have built an internationalisation desk with two full-time staff members.

The Malta Chamber has participated in a number of initiatives, including a partnership with Malta Enterprise in the launch and implementation of a project dedicated to franchise, through which over 50 companies benefitted.

“We also participate in all ME-led business missions, as well as organising our first mission to Tunisia last June,” added Mr Tabone.

Furthermore, we have also established four businesscouncils, for Egypt, Tunisia, Scandinavia and, most recently,Germany.

HSBC commercial banking has a customer base of 3.2 million businesses, ranging from newly- created start-ups to large corporates, and over 7,500 relationship managers to look after their needs and connect them with the partners they need from around the world to grow their business.
