Nominated for the Best Newcomer and Best New Artist awards at this year’s Bay Music Awards and Malta Music Awards respectively, it’s safe to say 2011 has been a good year for The Crowns.
Citing their music as a blend of pop rock with an indie tendency, this young quintet hit the ground running since first surfacing onto the local scene last year.
The band’s debut single Memories, along with an accompanying Toby remix were regular mainstays on the local airwaves for many weeks and played a big part in giving The Crowns a boost.
More than that however, their popularity is also the fruit of the band’s relentless gigging schedule.
Apart from an endless string of live dates around the islands, The Crowns have also appeared at various key events, namely Notte Bianca, Campusfest, Birgufest, Nadur Festival and opening for Airport Impressions during the summer.
Last September, the band released its second single, Out Of Nowhere which, like Memories, also made it to the top of the Bay Radio charts and is still getting a lot of airplay. To vote for The Crowns at the BMAs, send an SMS to 5061 5301. More details at The Crowns’ page on Facebook.
