Italy's lower chamber of parliament has begun deliberations ahead of a confidence vote for the government formed by Premier Mario Monti aimed at saving the country from its debt crisis.
Mr Monti will address the Chamber of Deputies this morning.
It comes a day after his government won a vote of confidence 281-25 in the upper house after he pledged to reform the pension system, re-impose a tax on first homes annulled by former PM Silvio Berlusconi's government, fight tax evasion, streamline civil court proceedings, get more women and youth into the workforce, and cut political costs.
During yesterday's vote, anti-austerity rioters clashed with police in several cities across the country.
Mr Monti was chosen to lead after Italy's spiralling financial crisis felled Mr Berlusconi's government.
