Probation for Romanian thieves
Three Romanians were given one year probation each after they pleaded guilty to stealing €200 from a cash register at the Waterfront Hotel in Triq ix-Xatt Gzira.
Vasile Caldararu, 20; Mures Petrache, 28; and Mihai Florica, 32, live at the Eurostar Hotel in Ball Street, St Julian's entered the hotel, stole the cash and left in a car.
Someone saw them and took a note of the car's number plate and they were caught by the police Mobile Squad shortly after.

During the day? When people are required to come in and out? Might as well close down the hotel then, at least the money will be safe.

Why probation and not a fine and jail time - now they can all try to steal again.

Petty theft and pickpocketing has become a real scourge in Paceville. I hope that anyone caught will have justice meted on the spot because the justice system is failing us miserably.
