A 21-year-old Hispanic man was arrested in Pennsylvania yesterday in connection with a shooting in which a White House window was struck by a bullet, the US Secret Service said.

Oscar Ortega-Hernandez was arrested by state police at a hotel near Indiana, Pennsylvania, the Secret Service special agent in charge, Edwin Donovan, said.

“On Wednesday afternoon at approximately 12.35 p.m. (1735 GMT), based on information generated by Secret Service agents from the Pittsburgh Field Office, Pennsylvania State Police Troop A located and arrested Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez at a hotel near Indiana, Pennsylvania,” Mr Donovan said in a statement. Earlier, Mr Donovan said Mr Ortega-Hernandez was being sought after gunshots were heard on Friday night near the White House.

A bullet was found on Tuesday impacted in the ballistic glass of an exterior window of the White House, and a second bullet was found outside the US presidential residence. President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama were outside Washington at the time.
