Countries currently facing financial problems are among those that fed-up Britons would consider moving to, according to a survey.

Spain, Italy and Portugal are all in the top 10 of destinations most coveted by those dissatisfied with life in Britain, the poll by flight comparison site Skyscanner found.

Australia was the country Britons would most like to live in, followed by Spain, US, Canada and New Zealand.

As many as 88 per cent of the 1,167 people polled said they would consider moving abroad within the next five years.

The main reasons for emigrating were cheaper property abroad and more job opportunities.

A good proportion were also enticed by a perceived “better lifestyle” while 19 per cent were lured by the promise of sunnier climes.

Skyscanner travel editor Sam Baldwin said: “For many people the idea of ‘living the dream’ abroad is very alluring.”

Countries people would most like to move to:

1. Australia
2. Spain
3. US
4. Canada
5. New Zealand
6. France
7. Italy
8. Cyprus
9. Portugal
10. Thailand
