Drivers rescued as roads flood - building collapses in Naxxar

A number of drivers in Birkirkara Valley Road needed to be rescued early this morning as rainwater trapped them in their cars.

The worst of the flooding was at around 3 a.m., with a number of cars having been dragged along Valley Road. Drivers were pulled out of their vehicles by rescuers of the Civil Protection Department.

A parked car was also dragged and damaged by the water in Msida.

Fire-fighters were also deployed to drain water from a small number of homes flooded at Qormi valley.

In Naxxar, a road which leads up the hill from Naxxar Road to the Upper Secondary School was blocked when an old vacant building collapsed. Another wall collapsed near the White Rocks.

No one was injured.
